Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how NorthStar HUD ("NorthStar", "the plug-in", "we", "us", or "our") processes information when you use the NorthStar HUD plug-in through Even Hub on supported Even Realities devices.
1. Who operates NorthStar HUD
NorthStar HUD is an independent third-party Even Hub plug-in. It is not developed, operated, or endorsed by Even Realities.
Privacy and support contact: northstarhud.support@gmail.com.
2. Information NorthStar processes
Local plug-in data
NorthStar stores information needed to provide its features using the Even Hub local-storage mechanism. This can include:
- HUD layout, widget visibility, accessibility, language, region, time-format, and unit preferences;
- notes/to-do items and their text;
- reminders, reminder text, schedules, snooze state, and active state;
- timer and stopwatch state;
- weather cache data and weather settings; and
- when manual weather is enabled, the selected place name, region/country, latitude, longitude, and time zone.
This local plug-in data is not routinely sent to the NorthStar developer. It remains in local Even Hub storage unless a feature described below requires network access or you voluntarily submit feedback.
Automatic weather location
If you select Automatic — Phone Location, NorthStar requests a low-accuracy location from the Even Realities app. NorthStar sends the resulting latitude and longitude to Open-Meteo so it can return weather for that location. NorthStar does not send those coordinates to the NorthStar feedback service or store them in a developer-operated user database.
Manual weather location
If you select manual weather, the city/place/postal-code search you enter is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service. When you select a result, NorthStar stores the selected location information locally and sends its coordinates to Open-Meteo when requesting forecasts.
Feedback you choose to submit
If the Feedback feature is available and you send a report, NorthStar sends the following to the NorthStar feedback service:
- feedback type, title, and description;
- the contact information you enter;
- NorthStar version/release information and submission time; and
- optional diagnostics only when you choose to include them.
Optional diagnostics are limited to general configuration/status information such as locale, selected language/unit/time settings, whether G2 is connected, whether battery information is available, accessibility settings, whether weather is cached, a weather error category, timer/stopwatch state, and counts of reminders and notes.
Optional diagnostics are designed not to include location coordinates, the G2 serial number, note/to-do text, or reminder text.
Technical metadata handled by service providers
When NorthStar contacts an internet service, normal network metadata such as IP address, request timing, and device/network information may be processed by that service provider. Open-Meteo states that its free API may keep server logs that can include IP addresses and geographic coordinates for troubleshooting and deletes those log files after 90 days. Cloudflare and GitHub may also process request or account metadata under their own privacy terms.
3. Why NorthStar processes information
| Purpose | Information used |
|---|---|
| Display and remember your HUD configuration | Local settings and accessibility/preferences |
| Provide notes, reminders, timer, and stopwatch functions | Locally stored feature data |
| Provide local weather | Automatic or selected manual location and weather settings |
| Respond to feedback, bugs, and requests | Feedback content, contact information, optional diagnostics |
| Protect the feedback service from abuse and troubleshoot failures | Limited request/technical metadata handled by service providers |
4. Legal bases
Where privacy law requires a legal basis, NorthStar relies on:
- Your consent or permission for location access where the platform/device asks for it, and for voluntary feedback or optional diagnostics;
- Performance of the service you request to store local settings and operate the plug-in's features; and
- Legitimate interests in maintaining security, preventing abuse, and troubleshooting the feedback service, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
5. Who receives information
- Open-Meteo / OpenMeteo GmbH: receives location queries/coordinates needed for geocoding and weather. See Open-Meteo Terms & Privacy.
- Cloudflare: hosts the NorthStar feedback Worker and may process network/request metadata when feedback is submitted. See Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- GitHub: stores submitted feedback as issues in a private repository accessible to the NorthStar developer. See GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Even Realities: provides the Even Hub platform, local plug-in storage, and device/app services. Even Realities processes its own platform/device data under its own terms and privacy policies.
NorthStar does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. NorthStar does not include third-party advertising networks or analytics SDKs.
6. Retention
Local data: NorthStar local data remains in the plug-in's local storage until you delete the relevant information, clear/reset plug-in data where available, or the host platform removes that storage.
Feedback: submitted feedback is kept in a private GitHub repository for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate, respond to, maintain, improve, or secure NorthStar. You may request deletion of a feedback submission by emailing northstarhud.support@gmail.com and providing enough information to identify the report.
Provider logs: service providers may retain technical logs according to their own policies. Open-Meteo states that free-API server log files are deleted after 90 days.
7. Security
NorthStar is designed to minimize network collection. Feedback credentials are kept as server-side Cloudflare Worker secrets and are not shipped inside the plug-in. Feedback is stored in a private GitHub repository. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, so you should avoid sending passwords, payment-card information, medical information, or other highly sensitive information through the Feedback form.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can use manual weather instead of automatic phone location.
- You can choose whether to include diagnostics in feedback.
- You can delete notes, reminders, and other editable local content through NorthStar's controls.
- You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information held in submitted feedback by contacting us.
- You may withdraw permissions such as location through the applicable Even Realities/device settings, subject to the resulting feature limitations.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may provide additional rights such as objection, restriction, portability, or the right to complain to a data-protection authority. To exercise a right relating to data controlled by NorthStar, contact us at the address below.
9. International processing
Open-Meteo, Cloudflare, GitHub, and Even Realities may operate infrastructure in multiple countries. Information sent to those services may therefore be processed outside your state, province, or country, subject to the providers' applicable safeguards and terms.
10. Children
NorthStar is not designed or directed specifically to children, and we do not knowingly seek to collect children's personal information through the Feedback feature.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when NorthStar's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top of this page will identify the current version. Material changes will be reflected before or when the updated processing takes effect where required.
